I've been pretty worn this week. I've been preparing to go to One Day '03 and at the same time getting everything ready for the end of school and exams (which start while I'm gone). Though I havent gotten much sleep, God has worked out all the small details of the trip. I am really pumped to see how God is going to move amongst everyone there. Especially in my own life.
The following words are from the One Day '03 website, and they are very convicting of how so many times we make "life" about US, but truely it's all about the Glory and Renoun of God!
The following is from "Prepare the Way" on the One Day site:
"That’s not you... but You! It’s all about Jesus. Life is about Him. You and I were made for Him. Everything exists for His glory. He is the center. He is core. He is worthy.
It’s amazing how quickly we can invert that reality and make life all about us. We move to the center of our thoughts and affections, demanding that the world revolve around us, serve us, please us... cater to us.
And if we are not careful, we will do the same with God, demanding in subtle (and not so subtle) ways that He do what we want... when we want it. We make God about us. The Bible? For us. Prayer, all about our issues. Worship is validated by what it does for us. Church exists for us. Heaven was made for us. It’s all about ME, ME, ME.
Yet, our lives shrink when we make much of ourselves, because we were created to exalt our Maker, not ourselves. That’s why our hearts expand and live when we make much of Him. Life counts most when we live it for the Name that is above all names. That’s where joy is forever"
"Yes Lord, walking in the way of your truth, we wait eagerly for you, for your name and your renown are the desire of our souls."
Isaiah 26:8
