Sleepy But Worth It
Man, the Nickel Creek concert ROCKED! They call it bluegrass but they really ROCKED OUT last night! The instruments seemed turned up louder than normal. They played some old stuff, and then also some new stuff... One interesting song that I hope they put on their new album is called 'Oh Ye of Little Faith'. It was about being a 'doubting Thomas'. Anyway, I would like to hear it again and catch more of the lyrical meaning.

There was a great, fun part where the base player put down his base, and as Sean, Sara, and Chris played a fun instrumental, he did a little 'tap/river dance'. LOL! Great stuff!

Ok, now for the BEST part of the night... Nickel Creek had come out for an encore, played one or two more, and then (and I was kinda ready for this b/c I knew they did it in their shows), they stepped in front of the mics, unplugged their instruments, and called anyone who wanted to come down to the front, to stand in front of the stage. I grabbed Jill, Jill grabbed Anna and Kelly and we booked it down to the front. I think there were MAYBE 2 people in front of me, and we were dead center stage!!! It was sooo cool. So they proceded to play 2 more totally accoustic, and then the ENDING SONG.... the PERFECT way to end such a great concert... They ended with my all favorite hymn... Sara lead out singing, "Be Thou My Vision" as the guys sang harmony. I had only heard them do this live one other time, and I think this time was EVEN better!!! It was awesome! Can't wait till Merlefest!

Pictures to come....
