Word of God Speak
I was at a wedding not long ago where the Father of the groom was 'preaching' and said the following statement: God's Word is exalted above HIS name. I was taken back by those words, and wanted to study that in Scripture. I found Psalm 138:2 today which seems to speak of that idea. Does anyone else have verses that may support that statement? I think that idea says a lot about how IMPORTANT God's Word is to us. It was quite convicting to me, thinking that I have access to something that God esteems more than HIS own NAME, yet I don't take part in it as much as I ought.
Psalm 138:2
I will worship toward Your holy temple and praise Your name for Your loving-kindness and for Your truth and faithfulness; for You have exalted above all else Your name and Your word and You have magnified Your word above all Your name!
- Amplified Bible
Word of God Speak
Word of God speak
Would You pour down like rain
Washing my eyes to see
Your majesty
To be still and know
That You're in this place
Please let me stay and rest
In Your holiness

They say you cannot walk before you crawl, I wonder why, I wonder why.
-Bebo Norman
Is that not typical of human nature? Do we not try to step ahead of God's plan and design for our lives. Try to take things in our own hands, make things happen, instead of trusting God.

Saturday I woke up early and met Ben and Josh to head on down to Charlotte to hang out and hit a Derek Webb show (formerly in the band Caedmon's Call.) We met my friend Molly from Tallahassee (who goes to college near Charlotte) at Lava Java (where my cell phone still resides!) Then we headed to a fairly large music store. Hung out there for a few hours, played around on lots of instruments. :) Then we headed to the show. Derek Webb and Sandra McCracken were awesome! Derek did a lot of teaching on the church. Some things that stuck out to me were the following statement paraphrases:
1. We (the church) need to start building relationships by being honest with each other about our sin. Confessing to each other.
2. Derek quoted a man that at his death stated that he needed to throw all his righteous deeds in a pile with his sin and filth, and run straight to Jesus for his righteousness.
There was so much more that I would never be able to put it all here, but if you have an opportunity to see Derek Webb, you should definately go!
Sunday was youth Sunday and the theme was, Moving Forward Together Cross Generationally Psalm 145 was spoken and Shane and Shane have a song Psalm 145 that we did a dance to. I totally recomend their music.
Later after church I met up with a group of True Lifers and we went to the House Party Concert in Raleigh. We saw Paul Colman Trio, Chris Rice, Nicole C. Mullens, Rachel Lampa, Sixpence, Third Day... Third Day was my FaVe! They did a lot of worship. Nichole C Mullen was great too. She did My Redeemer Lives which I LOVE! Chris Rice did Smell the Color 9 which I really like. Sixpense did some cool songs, but I can only listen to them for so long b/c all of their songs start sounding alike. Paul Colman was really funny. Rachel Lampa did Live For Him which is good.
Soooo... it was a fun concert filled weekend. By far I was blessed the most at the Derek Webb thing. I'll say it again. GO SEE HIM.
By the end of the weekend I was pretty tired, but NOW I've fully recovered. Soooo... Anyone want to go do it again THIS weekend??? I'm going to see Andrew Peterson in Lynchburg on Friday Night!!!
Friends of mine just started a Boarding Clothing Company called Telios Clothing Co. Their stuff is really cool!
Ok, I just wrote this long recap of my weekend and the concerts i went to, and then my connection went down and I lost everything. I'm so bummed. So, maybe I'll try it again in a bit after I recover from my disappointment!

New Book
My secret sis at school gave me a new book today called:
A Passionate Pursuit of God by Tim Riter.
Anyone read it?
Yeah, today I woke up quite sick and tired. The last thing I wanted to do was get out of bed. It's my own fault for staying out so stupidly late 2 nights in a row, all the while KNOWING I had to get up so insanely early this morning. So I woke up resenting the sound of my alarm, resenting the fact that I have NO discipline in going to bed on time, resenting the fact that I have an 8 o’clock Algebra 1/2 class. The last thing I wanted to do was think! But alas, I felt it necessary to haul myself out of bed. You know, it’s hard to praise the Lord in the morning when you don't even feel like praising ANYTHING but sleep, but it's at those times I feel it just as necessary. So I grab my guitar and start playing, not knowing what to sing, but knowing that there is a song to sing! Then words start escaping out of my mouth, Bless the Lord, oh my soul, and all that is within me (which wasn't much at the time) bless his HOLY Name. Those words continued to ring in my heart and escape from my mouth. I feel ashamed that I don't have MORE 'in me' this morning to bless his HOLY Name, but the Lord is gracious and slow to anger, rich and love He is Good to all, who call on him! (From Psalm 145). Thus he gave me mercy and grace this morning and increased my capacity to bless Him more. Walking out the door, the most gorgeous sunrise gleamed on the lake. Bless the Lord, oh my soul! On the way to school the sky turned golden and cried out the greatness of God. Bless the Lord, oh my soul! Then I looked to the left and saw the largest, most brilliant, full rainbow I have ever seen. Bless the Lord, oh my soul!
For HE hath done GREAT things!
